Introduces an unlikely or ill-advised action and warns of a serious consequence. Emphatic, somewhat literary.
V-vol + ものなら
  1. 締め切りに遅れようものなら、大変なことになる。
    しめきりにおくれようものなら、たいへんなことになる。
    If you were to miss the deadline, there would be serious trouble.
  2. 本当のことを言おうものなら、大騒ぎになるだろう。
    ほんとうのことをいおうものなら、おおさわぎになるだろう。
    If I dared tell the truth, there would be a huge uproar.
  3. 一度でもミスをしようものなら、信用を失いかねない。
    いちどでもミスをしようものなら、しんようをうしないかねない。
    If you made even one mistake, you could lose their trust.
