〜なり
'The moment someone did A, they did B' — the same person, and B is sudden or unexpected. Written/narrative register; the second clause is normally past tense and never a command or intention.
V-dict + なり（後件は過去形・同一主語）
彼は部屋に入るなり、大声で泣き出した。
かれはへやにはいるなり、おおごえでなきだした。
The moment he entered the room, he burst into loud tears.
息子は帰宅するなり、鞄を放り出して遊びに行った。
むすこはきたくするなり、かばんをほうりだしてあそびにいった。
The instant my son got home, he tossed his bag aside and went out to play.
部長は報告を聞くなり、顔色を変えて立ち上がった。
ぶちょうはほうこくをきくなり、かおいろをかえてたちあがった。
The moment the manager heard the report, he went pale and stood up.
