〜までだ / 〜までのことだ
With V-dict it means 'I'll simply do X, that's all' — a calm fallback plan. With V-ta it means 'I merely did X, nothing more'. Formal, slightly stiff spoken and written.
V-dict + までだ（対処）／V-ta + までだ（弁明）
断られたら、また別の会社を当たるまでだ。
ことわられたら、またべつのかいしゃをあたるまでだ。
If they turn us down, we'll simply approach another company.
事実をありのままに述べたまでのことです。
じじつをありのままにのべたまでのことです。
I merely stated the facts as they are, nothing more.
電車が動かないなら、歩いて行くまでだ。
でんしゃがうごかないなら、あるいていくまでだ。
If the trains aren't running, I'll just walk, that's all.
