〜たところで
'Even if you do X, it won't help' — a hypothetical whose result is useless or negative. Always followed by a negative or futile outcome; slightly formal.
V-ta + ところで（後件は否定・無意味な結果）
今から急いだところで、間に合わないだろう。
いまからいそいだところで、まにあわないだろう。
Even if we hurry now, we probably won't make it.
謝ったところで、失った信用は戻らない。
あやまったところで、うしなったしんようはもどらない。
Even if you apologize, the trust you lost won't come back.
いくら考えたところで、答えは出ない。
いくらかんがえたところで、こたえはでない。
No matter how much you think about it, no answer will come.
