L10 JLPT N1 grammar — 〜といえども … 〜とはいえ

Read each pattern and its example, then write your own sentence on the line.

〜といえども N/V-plain/i-adj/na-adj+といえども
Literary 'even though / even X': admits a strong case and then denies the expected conclusion. Formal written style, common in editorials and speeches.
専門家といえども、予測を誤ることがある。 Even experts sometimes get their predictions wrong.
〜といったらない / 〜といったらありはしない N/i-adj/na-adj語幹+といったらない/といったらありはしない
'Indescribably, extremely' — the degree is beyond words, usually of a negative feeling. といったらありはしない (spoken: ありゃしない) is stronger and more emotional.
あの店員の態度の悪さといったらない。 That clerk's attitude is unbelievably bad.
〜ときたら N+ときたら(非難・不満の文が続く)
Raises a familiar person or thing as a topic in order to complain about it. Conversational and blunt; the following clause is critical or exasperated.
うちの息子ときたら、ゲームばかりしている。 My son — all he does is play games.
〜ところを N-の/V-dict/V-ta/i-adj/na-adj-な+ところを
'Although it is a time when...' — acknowledges the listener's inconvenient situation before thanking or apologizing. Set polite phrase in business and formal speech.
お忙しいところをお越しいただき、恐縮です。 Thank you for coming despite how busy you are.
〜としたところで N/V-plain(辞書形・た形)+としたところで
'Even supposing X / even from X's standpoint, the result won't change'. Concessive and formal; the second clause is usually negative or pessimistic.
今から出るとしたところで、開演には間に合わない。 Even if we left now, we wouldn't make it before the curtain.
〜とはいえ N/V-plain/i-adj/na-adj(+だ)+とはいえ
'Even so / although that is true' — accepts the first fact, then states something that goes against what you would expect from it. Slightly formal, usable in writing and speech.
春とはいえ、朝晩はまだ風が冷たい。 It may be spring, but the wind is still cold morning and night.
