〜にしたがって
Two uses: proportional change ("as … does"), like につれて but stiffer, and "in accordance with" instructions, rules or a manual. Formal in both senses.
V-dict + にしたがって；N（変化・指示・規則）+ にしたがって／にしたがい
  1. 上へ行くにしたがって、景色がよくなった。
    うえへいくにしたがって、けしきがよくなった。
    The higher we went, the better the view became.
  2. 係員の指示にしたがって避難してください。
    かかりいんのしじにしたがってひなんしてください。
    Please evacuate following the staff's instructions.
  3. 説明書にしたがい、機械を組み立てた。
    せつめいしょにしたがい、きかいをくみたてた。
    I assembled the machine according to the manual.
