Corrects the impression a word might give: 'I say X, but actually it's less than you'd imagine'. Neutral register, very common in conversation.
N / 普通形 + といっても
  1. 料理といっても、卵を焼いただけです。
    りょうりといっても、たまごをやいただけです。
    I say I cooked, but all I did was fry an egg.
  2. 給料が上がったといっても、ほんの少しだ。
    きゅうりょうがあがったといっても、ほんのすこしだ。
    My salary went up, but only by a tiny amount.
  3. 駅から近いといっても、歩いて二十分はかかる。
    えきからちかいといっても、あるいてにじゅっぷんはかかる。
    It's close to the station, but it still takes twenty minutes on foot.
