〜に代わって
Means acting on behalf of someone, or one thing replacing another over time. More formal than 〜のかわりに and common in announcements and written Japanese.
N + に代わって（に代わり）
  1. 社長に代わって、副社長があいさつをした。
    しゃちょうにかわって、ふくしゃちょうがあいさつをした。
    The vice president gave the greeting on behalf of the president.
  2. 病気の父に代わって、私が店を守っている。
    びょうきのちちにかわって、わたしがみせをまもっている。
    I'm running the shop in place of my sick father.
  3. 手紙に代わって、メールが使われるようになった。
    てがみにかわって、メールがつかわれるようになった。
    Email has come to be used in place of letters.
