〜かのようだ
Compares a real situation to something it is not: 'as if'. More literary and vivid than 〜ようだ, often used with まるで, especially in descriptive writing.
plain + かのようだ／かのように（N・na-adj は であるかのようだ）
  1. 彼はまるで何も知らないかのように話した。
    かれはまるでなにもしらないかのようにはなした。
    He spoke as if he knew nothing at all.
  2. 五月なのに、真夏になったかのような暑さだ。
    ごがつなのに、まなつになったかのようなあつさだ。
    It's only May, yet it's as hot as if midsummer had arrived.
  3. 会場は水を打ったかのように静まり返った。
    かいじょうはみずをうったかのようにしずまりかえった。
    The hall fell dead silent, as though water had been sprinkled over it.
