〜というより
Rejects one description in favor of a more accurate one: 'rather than ..., it's more like ...'. Neutral and very common in both speech and writing.
Plain form / N / na-adj + というより（むしろ）
  1. 彼は厳しいというより、冷たい。
    かれはきびしいというより、つめたい。
    Rather than strict, he's cold.
  2. これは趣味というより仕事に近い。
    これはしゅみというよりしごとにちかい。
    This is closer to work than to a hobby.
  3. 疲れたというより、やる気が出ないんです。
    つかれたというより、やるきがでないんです。
    It's less that I'm tired and more that I can't get motivated.
