〜ようにする

Verb (dictionary/ない form) + ようにする. Expresses making an effort or habit: 'try to, make sure to'. ようにしている = habitual effort.

V-dict / V-nai + ようにする

毎日野菜を食べるようにしています。

まいにちやさいをたべるようにしています。

I make sure to eat vegetables every day.
遅刻しないようにしてください。

ちこくしないようにしてください。

Please try not to be late.
寝る前に携帯を見ないようにした。

ねるまえにけいたいをみないようにした。

I made a point of not looking at my phone before bed.
