〜てほしい

Verb (te-form) + ほしい. Expresses that the speaker wants someone else to do something. The person is marked with に.

(Person に) V-te + ほしい / V-nai + でほしい

母に元気になってほしい。

ははにげんきになってほしい。

I want my mother to get well.
もっと早く来てほしかった。

もっとはやくきてほしかった。

I wanted you to come earlier.
この話は誰にも言わないでほしい。

このはなしはだれにもいわないでほしい。

I'd like you not to tell anyone about this.
