N / plain clause + という + N. Means 'called X' when naming something, or 'the fact that / that' when a clause describes the noun.

  1. 「さくら」という店を知っていますか。
    「さくら」というみせをしっていますか。
    Do you know a shop called Sakura?
  2. 田中さんという人から電話がありました。
    たなかさんというひとからでんわがありました。
    There was a call from a person named Tanaka.
  3. 彼が会社をやめるという話を聞いた。
    かれがかいしゃをやめるというはなしをきいた。
    I heard that he is quitting the company.
