ただ〜のみ

Means 'only this and nothing else', limiting the case strongly. Formal and written; often paired with である or だ.

「だけ」の硬い言い方で、それ以外にないと限定する。

Formation: ただ + N + のみ ／ ただ + V-dict + のみ

  1. 準備は済んだ。あとはただ結果を待つのみだ。

    じゅんびはすんだ。あとはただけっかをまつのみだ。

    The preparations are done; now we can only wait for the results.

  2. 今はただ彼の無事を祈るのみである。
