〜ないかぎり

"Unless," stating that as long as the condition is not met, the situation will not change. The main clause is usually negative or expresses impossibility. Neutral register.

「〜なければ、ずっと…ない」という条件を表す。後件は否定が多い。

Formation: V-ない + 限り；N でない／na-adj でない + 限り

Example sentences

  1. 毎日練習しない限り、上手にはならない。

    まいにちれんしゅうしないかぎり、じょうずにはならない。

    Unless you practice every day, you won't get good.

  2. 雨が降らない限り、試合は行われます。

    あめがふらないかぎり、しあいはおこなわれます。

    Unless it rains, the match will be held.

  3. 本人が認めない限り、この問題は解決しない。

    ほんにんがみとめないかぎり、このもんだいはかいけつしない。

    Unless he admits it himself, this problem will not be resolved.
