〜ないことはない

A double negative meaning 'it's not that I can't / it's possible, though reluctantly'. Gives a cautious, hedged yes; common in polite spoken Japanese.

二重否定で「できなくはない」と控えめに肯定する。

Formation: V-nai / i-adj くない / na-adj でない + ことはない

  1. 忙しいが、少しなら手伝えないことはない。

    いそがしいが、すこしならてつだえないことはない。

    I'm busy, but it's not that I can't help a little.
