〜というより

Rejects one description in favor of a more accurate one: 'rather than ..., it's more like ...'. Neutral and very common in both speech and writing.

前の言い方より後の言い方の方が適切だと示す。

Formation: Plain form / N / na-adj + というより（むしろ）

    Rather than strict, he's cold.

    This is closer to work than to a hobby.
