A Noh or kabuki workshop — the mask, the walk, the voice
能・歌舞伎のワークショップ——面、歩き、声 のうかぶきのわーくしょっぷめんあるきこえ
Art · Learning · History · Book ahead
Ninety minutes on a real stage with a performer: putting on a Noh mask and discovering you can see almost nothing, learning the sliding walk, chanting a line, or — in the kabuki version — the poses, the eyes and the stamping. The National Noh Theatre, the schools' stages and a few kabuki actors' studios run these in English on set dates, and they change how you watch the performance the same evening.
