"After doing X, then Y," where X is a deliberate preliminary step whose result shapes Y. Formal, common in business and official notices; not for accidental sequences.

必要なことをしてから、それをふまえて次をする、という手順を表す。

Formation: V-ta + 上で；N + の + 上で（意志的な行為に使う）

  1. 内容をよく確認した上で、サインしてください。

    ないようをよくかくにんしたうえで、サインしてください。

    Please sign only after checking the contents carefully.

  2. 家族と相談の上で、お返事します。

    かぞくとそうだんのうえで、おへんじします。

    I will reply after discussing it with my family.

  3. 試験の結果を見た上で、進路を決めるつもりだ。
