〜からには

"Now that / if I'm going to," almost the same as 以上は but warmer and more emotional, expressing the speaker's resolve. Used in both speech and writing.

「〜以上は」とほぼ同じで、話し手の強い決意や気持ちが出る。

Formation: V／i-adj 普通形 + からには；na-adj である + からには；N である + からには

Example sentences

  1. 出場するからには、優勝を目指したい。

    しゅつじょうするからには、ゆうしょうをめざしたい。

    If I'm going to compete, I want to aim for first place.

  2. 日本へ来たからには、日本語を身につけたい。

    にほんへきたからには、にほんごをみにつけたい。

    Now that I have come to Japan, I want to master Japanese.

  3. 社会人であるからには、責任を持つべきだ。

    しゃかいじんであるからには、せきにんをもつべきだ。

    As a working adult, you ought to take responsibility.
