〜ずにはいられない

Describes a feeling so strong you cannot stop yourself from acting. Spontaneous, not a duty. Somewhat literary; 〜ないではいられない is the softer spoken variant.

気持ちを抑えられず、自然にしてしまうことを表す。

Formation: V-nai stem + ずにはいられない（する→せずにはいられない）

  1. あの映画を見ると、泣かずにはいられない。

    あのえいがをみると、なかずにはいられない。

    I can't help crying whenever I watch that film.

  2. 彼の話を聞いて、笑わずにはいられなかった。
