〜てならない

Says a feeling or impression wells up on its own and won't go away. Used with emotion verbs and adjectives; more literary and formal than 〜てたまらない.

自然にそう感じられて仕方がない、という硬い表現。

Formation: V-te / i-adj くて / na-adj で + ならない（感情を表す語）

Example sentences

  1. 息子の将来が心配でならない。

    むすこのしょうらいがしんぱいでならない。

    I can't help worrying about my son's future.

  2. 彼の態度が気になってならない。

    かれのたいどがきになってならない。

    His attitude keeps bothering me no end.

  3. 昔のことが思い出されてならない。

    むかしのことがおもいだされてならない。

    Memories of the old days keep coming back to me.
