〜に加えて

Adds a second item on top of the first: not only A, but B as well. More formal than 〜だけでなく; frequent in news, business writing and explanations.

あるものにさらに別のものが加わることを表す。

Formation: N + に加えて（後に「も」が来ることが多い）

  1. 家賃に加えて、光熱費も毎月かかる。

    やちんにくわえて、こうねつひもまいつきかかる。

    In addition to the rent, utilities cost money every month too.

  2. 彼は英語に加えて、中国語も話せる。

    かれはえいごにくわえて、ちゅうごくごもはなせる。

    In addition to English, he can also speak Chinese.
