An architecture walk with an architect
建築家と歩く建築散歩 けんちくかとあるくけんちくさんぽ
Architecture · Learning · High-end · Walkable
Tokyo has more buildings by living masters than any city, and a walk with a practising architect — Omotesando's flagships, Marunouchi's restorations, the Roppongi museums, or the modernist houses of Meguro — turns a street into a lecture. Several English-speaking architects run half-day walks; the Tokyo Station Gallery and 21_21 Design Sight also organise guided tours of their own buildings.

Context Travel Tokyo Architecture Tour — Omotesando and Harajuku
コンテクスト・トラベル 東京建築ツアー(表参道・原宿)
¥¥¥ · 180 min · English: yes
Context Travel guides are credentialed specialists — architects, art historians, and area experts — rather than general-interest tour leaders, and this walk is built specifically around Meiji Jingu, Harajuku, and Omotesando's architecture, sometimes extending toward Roppongi. It targets visitors who want the design history explained in depth, not just pointed out.

ショーケース・トーキョー建築ツアー
¥¥¥ · 180 min · English: yes
Run by government-licensed guides, including at least one guide who is a practicing architect, so the commentary moves past facades into structural and urban-planning reasoning. Omotesando routes take in postwar modernist and contemporary landmark buildings within walking distance of each other, framed by someone trained to read them rather than a generalist guide reciting names.
