KITTE and the rooftop garden
KITTEと屋上庭園 きってとおくじょうていえん
The old central post office turned shopping atrium, with a free rooftop facing the station façade.
Worth itShopping · Craft · View · Free · Rainy day · Art
The 1931 central post office kept its white curved façade and got a tower behind it; inside, Kengo Kuma turned the courtyard into a five-storey triangular atrium of shops chosen for being Japanese and made somewhere — ceramics, knives, regional crafts. On the second floor the Intermediatheque museum shows the University of Tokyo's scientific collections, skeletons and specimens in dark wood cases, free. The roof is a lawn with the best view of the station's brick façade and the trains sliding out beneath it.
